Holiday Claim Line, a service run by Derbyshire-based CS2 Lawyers, recently won compensation for three Edinburgh children who received electric shocks whilst swimming in a pool in Lanzarote.
Natasha (14), William (13) and Gemma Sproule (9) were staying with their parents at the Los Tulipanes Apartments, Puerto Del Carmen, Lanzarote when the incident happened in the summer of 2002. They had booked their holiday with Tour Operator First Choice Holidays & Flights Ltd.
The accident happened on 29 June, just nine days into their trip. The children were playing in the swimming pool at the apartments when they were electrocuted, causing blisters to their hands and feet.
The children’s parents alleged that there was faulty wiring adjacent to the swimming pool and in September 2002 they contacted CS2 Lawyers’ Holiday Claim Line to seek compensation from the Tour Operator.
Compensation has recently been agreed without the need for court proceedings and First Choice Holidays & Flights Ltd have paid £1,000 to Natasha and £800 each to William and Gemma.
The Court has approved the settlement terms, a legal requirement as the awards were to children, and the compensation will be invested until the children reach the age of 18.
Claire Grayson, Solicitor at CS2 Lawyers said, “The children’s holidays were ruined through no fault of their own and it was only fair that they received compensation. Holiday Claim Line’s specialist travel Lawyers are experienced in obtaining compensation for people whose holidays have not lived up to expectations.”
